I Don’t Really Think About This Part Of The Story Often
But I’m starting to realize how frustrated I’m becoming with the lack of black women in television. Girlfriends is monumental to black women/black girls because it analyzed a reality most similar to black cultures. This is not to say that Girlfriends is always an accurate representation of all black women - but when there are faces that resemble yours, it makes relating a lot easier. Television and Film are measures of reflection, and we have to be more thoughtful about what we project. Sometimes its just nice to lay back and to get to laugh at something that someone you know could have said. Its an experience of relativity, it works the way colors work, the way lights work.
